The provisional government continuing the war: (overview)
The provisional government made a very bad decision of continuing on Czar's world war. Czar only used the citizen's money to party, party and party. The citizens were in poverty for a long time already. This was the main cause, but in short words.

The whole story: Part 1 (Alexander II) (Long term causes)
A brief 35 minutes additional video about Alexander II. You do not have to watch it, but it is quite interesting!

To find out about the main cause, we have to jump back to 1855. In 1855, Alexander II was crowned king. Alexander II was already a very experienced statesman when he was crowned king. Unfortunately Alexander II was dragged into the Ottoman empire war with Britain and France. The Russian army was depending on the economical feeds from their country, but the economy of the country could not support against all the three empires, thus Alexander II had to reform the country instead of continuing on the war against the three empires. Alexander the II had to clean up all the mess and reform the whole country. Alexander II created new educational programmes and economical basis.
Alexander II found out that without judiciary or law in the country, it would not work. So he created a 400 page document to persuade the royals to create a parliament (or as called Duma which came from the russian word "to think" which was Dumat). Sadly, Alexander II was bombed in his car when he was on the way to the presentation. His idea was that there would be a parliament in Russia, and there would be different political parties. Those party members would be elected by the citizens and the country would be one of the most democratic. Not like currently. With Alexander II bombed, it ruined everything, because this changed everything that was going to happen. |
The whole story: part 2 (Nicholas II)Furthermore, when Nicholas II (Alexander II's son) came to place as the king, he ruined everything:
After that, Nicholas Czar II thought that he was not a failure and he wanted to show that he was crowned king for a reason. So he picked a war with Japan rather than the European countries because he thought that Japan was a weak country and he could easily intrude it. Although things didn't go his way, the war lasted for a really long time and the world war 1 started. Russia was in poverty and he still continued with the war, which lead a lot of Russian innocent citizens starve to death. |
Rasputin (Short term Cause):
In the same time of the war, Rasputin became another short-term cause of the revolution in 1917 and 1918. In the time of the war, Nicholas Czar II found out that his son had a bleeding disorder called the Haemophilia. This disease could cause a person to bleed really easily. This is where Rasputin came in. He said that he had "magic powers" to save Nicholas Czar II's son. He gained a lot of powers in the royal family and started ruling the whole country. The citizens of Russia found out about him gaining so much power, they started to dig in of what he does, even the royal family did. They found out that he was a fraud so the royal family tortured him. He was stabbed, poisoned, shot foursomes, clubbed into submission and dumped in a river, then drowns.

1917 Revolution (Women's rights day, short term cause)
In 1917 February, the women's rights organisation created a protest in regards of the 1905 Bloody Sunday revolution. Also, they wanted to perform their hates against Nicholas Czar II through strikes and more. So they did, after the women's day protest, they started going on strikes and a lot of those kinds of protest. Nicholas Czar II again panicked and shot the peaceful citizens. Nicholas Czar II did not act well both times and gave a even worst impression to his citizens of Russia. The Russian citizens were already in poverty at that time of the war, and since they did not like Nicholas Czar II at all, they kept protesting and going on strikes until the royals came in. The royal family members persuaded Nicholas Czar II to stand down as king so that the peaceful country could continue on, even with poverty and war.

The Provisional Government: (Short Term Cause)
The provisional government came in when Nicholas Czar II came down from the king's position and the royals no longer controlled the country. The provisional government made a bad decision by continuing the war. This decision was bad because the people were already really poor and in poverty because of Nicholas Czar II. They did not want to continue the war because they just wanted to rebuild their own country with the provisional government, like Alexander II. The provisional government did not do anything else more than that so the citizens still hated them. (Nicholas Georgiou)
